City of Palo Alto Utilities is hiring two Overhead and Underground Electric Troubleman . The primary role of the Overhead and Underground Electric Troubleman is to install, maintain and repair high-powered electrical lines and systems as well as construct, maintain and repair overhead and underground electrical systems. This position requires climbing power poles and steel towers to perform repairs, as well as safely conducting rubber glove work on electrical systems with voltages up to 21,000 volts. In this journey-level role, you'll perform hands-on maintenance and minor repairs on both overhead and underground electrical systems. You'll be on the front lines responding to service outages, voltage issues, and customer concerns—helping ensure reliable power for our community. You’ll collaborate with Customer Service to handle the installation and removal of electrical services and meters, and partner with other departments to set up voltage and amperage testing equipment. The primary responsibility of this classification is emergency response and customer complaint investigations, therefore the incumbent will be required to work a 40 hour per week shift and may be a variation of the schedule as outlined below.
