Job Description

Job Description

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced VP of HR to lead and scale a growing HR function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on executive who has successfully built or expanded HR operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, particularly within the construction technology or SaaS sectors.

In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team and oversee all areas of human resources, with a focus on benefits, payroll, and compliance. You will also lead efforts across talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute an HR strategy that supports the company’s growth and long-term objectives.
  • Provide guidance to executive leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure alignment of people strategies across the business.

Benefits, Payroll, and Compliance

  • Lead all aspects of benefits administration, including health plans, retirement programs, wellness initiatives, and employee assistance programs.
  • Oversee payroll operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multiple locations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, such as FMLA, ACA, ERISA, and OSHA.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including brokers, payroll providers, and compliance vendors.

Talent and Culture

  • Drive initiatives to attract, onboard, engage, and retain top talent.
  • Build and maintain effective performance management programs that support a high-performance culture.
  • Lead learning and development efforts to align employee growth with business objectives.

Scaling and Change Management

  • Build scalable HR processes, systems, and policies to support a distributed and growing workforce.
  • Lead change management efforts during periods of rapid growth, mergers, acquisitions, or organizational restructuring.
  • Design and implement HR technology solutions, including HRIS, ATS, and LMS platforms, to drive automation and data-driven decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in an executive or VP-level role.
  • Proven success in scaling HR operations in a high-growth environment (e.g., from 100 to 500+ employees).
  • Deep expertise in benefits, payroll, and compliance, with experience managing multi-state or global operations.
  • Background in the construction technology, AEC, or SaaS industries.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing HR technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other senior HR certifications.
  • Experience supporting remote or hybrid workforces.
  • Exposure to M&A activities or IPO readiness is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive, action-oriented mindset with a focus on team success.
  • Strong analytical skills to support problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable presenting to and engaging with leadership, clients, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, provide feedback, and foster team development in a supportive, solutions-focused manner.
  • Committed to fostering a culture that values teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, high performance, and work-life balance.
