We're Hiring: Sheet Metal Mechanic!

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication, installation, and repair processes, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Pay Rate: $28

What You'll Do:

Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout, fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal products related to shipboard construction HVAC.
Excellent knowledge of Habitability layout and installation of metal joiner (MJ) bulkheads, MJ doors, berths, galleys and office outfitting .
Must be able to ensure that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished.
Must ensure that no work will be accomplished without a WAF posted at location of repairs.
Must be able to ensure that tank/ compartment has an updated safe for hot work ticket and that requirements of the ticket have been met.
Must have basic understanding of power and manual equipment; press brake, hand brake, power rollers, hand rollers, punch press, drill press, and hand tools used for general sheet metal fabrication

Qualifications:

Must have 5 years of experience.
Must have basic math knowledge.
Must know what personal protective equipment (PPE) to use and when.
Must be able to navigate a ship and understand compartment designation.
Must be able to ensure that job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure.
