Job Description

Fitch Group is currently seeking a  Director – Shared Services Technology Engineering based out of our Chicago office.

As a technology leader at Fitch, you will be at the forefront of developing and delivering cutting-edge solutions that drive our customer-facing applications. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the low-level design and delivery of APIs, identity and access management (IAM) solutions, and the Feeds product leveraging modern software engineering practices. You will lead agile teams dedicated to creating robust and scalable systems that are essential for integrating our award-winning research and data products into client workflows. We’ll Count on You To:

  • Oversee Development of API and IAM Solutions: Lead the strategy, low-level design, and delivery of robust API and authentication solutions. Ensure high availability and performance by utilizing the latest technologies and industry best practices.
  • Manage the Feeds Product: Oversee the delivery of our data  to customers, ensuring data accuracy, security, and timely delivery.
  • Lead and Mentor a High-Performance Engineering Team: Guide a team of engineers by removing blockers, vetting their designs, and coaching them to achieve their full potential. Actively manage team performance, hire top talent, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Implement and Standardize Agile Delivery Practices: Establish tools, technologies, standards, and best practices to expedite agile delivery. Focus on enhancing software engineering productivity through continuous integration/delivery processes, automation, and innovation.
  • Measure and Optimize Engineering Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor metrics for engineering quality, operational excellence, and agility. Own execution of the agile operating model on your teams and continuously adapt processes to improve performance, efficiency, and outcomes.
  • Drive Technology and Product Roadmap Execution: Collaborate with the Head of Shared Technology Services, API Product Owner, and technology partner organizations to develop and execute the technology and product roadmap. Prioritize technical debt reduction, strategic initiatives, and innovation projects to align with organizational goals and deliver impactful outcomes.

What You Need to Have:

  • Extensive experience in engineering and development, including building large-scale enterprise solutions (12+ years of experience preferred).
  • Expertise in software engineering practices, specifically in enabling incremental and agile delivery using continuous integration/delivery processes – particularly the use of DORA metrics for guiding squad productivity.
  • Strong proficiency in domain-driven design and programming languages such as Java and Python.
  • Experience with API lifecycle management, including the use of API management platforms such as Swaggerhub, AWS API Gateway, or similar.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard API specifications such as OpenAPI (Swagger), JSON, REST, and GraphQL.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, particularly leveraging AWS services to build cloud-native solutions.
  • Experience managing IAM solutions, and data delivery products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.

FOR CHICAGOROLES ONLY:  Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $180,000 and $200,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.  Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
