The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will continually train our current and future leaders to solve problems using a methodical, data-driven methodology. The black belt will help build a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence that impacts all aspects of our business with the goal of delivering the highest quality to our internal and external customers. The black belt will help build leaders who promote the EFESO World Class Operational System and Six Sigma Lean methods through training, education, mentorship, and publication. The position is on site. Main Responsibilities

  • Progress multiple improvement team projects within the facility by use of proven EFESO and Six Sigma Lean Methodologies
  • Lead improvement teams to project completion by eliminating and/or reducing material balance gaps identified through pillar gap analysis tied to strategic planning
  • Communicate progress, issues, and barriers to pillar leaders, process owners, and other managers as required
  • Assist management to transform the culture to one focused on continual improvement and the pursuit of operational excellence through learning, teaching, and coaching
  • Communicate the vision of SSAB One through EFESO and Six Sigma Lean project solving routes
  • Use programs such as Excel and Minitab to statistically analyze data to implement best solutions
  • Collect and evaluate data for accurateness in order conduct the correct statistical analysis
About You
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent job experience
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of the EFESO Pillar System, Improvement Teams, or Six Sigma Lean
  • Strong computer skills, including MS 365 and the ability to navigate multiple databases
  • Demonstrated analytical capability and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal,) interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline
  • Successful completion of Six Sigma Lean Black Belt training, certification and/or active experience
  • Successful completion of a Pillar-identified improvement team project and/or active participation as a Pillar member or improvement team leader
  • Proficient with Minitab and Visio
  • Familiar with AI tools
  • Experience in a steel manufacturing operation, preferably with a technical background
