Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government. Working at Natcast represents an opportunity to help extend America’s leadership in semiconductor technology, significantly reduce the time and cost of moving from idea to commercialization, and build and sustain a semiconductor workforce development ecosystem. These efforts to advance semiconductor technology and seed new industries built on the capabilities of a wide range of advanced chips hold the potential to benefit the country and the world for generations to come. In this role you will advance semiconductor innovation by developing sophisticated virtual platform models that enable early architectural exploration and validation of next-generation chip designs. Every day you will consult with users and assist in creating and optimizing platform-level models, developing new IP components and integrating virtual platforms with RTL environments. Additionally supporting and recommending the right platforms and tools for the user design under test (dut) and advance America's semiconductor capabilities. To thrive in this role you must combine deep architectural modeling expertise with strong system-level understanding, demonstrating mastery of virtual platforms while delivering innovative simulation solutions. Natcast, operating the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) stands at the forefront of America's semiconductor ecosystem. This unique public-private partnership unites industry leaders, academic researchers, and government stakeholders in advancing U.S. semiconductor capabilities through collaborative innovation. The Architectural Modeling Engineer role offers an exciting opportunity to shape semiconductor innovation through advanced virtual platform solutions. Supporting complex design initiatives, this position directly impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of early-stage semiconductor development. Responsibilities: Develop virtual platform architectural models Create new IP components for platforms Implement SystemC-based solutions Interface virtual platforms with RTL Optimize simulation environments Support architectural exploration Guide platform selection decisions Drive modeling methodology improvements Collaborate on design architecture Manage technical documentation Required Skills and Experience: Master's degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science 7+ years architectural modeling experience Expert knowledge of SystemC Strong background in virtual platforms (Qemu, Simics, Virtualizer) Experience with RTL integration Expertise in design architecture System-level modeling capabilities Excellence in performance optimization Strong analytical abilities Technical communication skills Bonus Points if you have the Following: Semiconductor industry experience Multiple platform expertise IP development background Emulation integration experience Technical mentoring capabilities Ready to advance semiconductor design through innovative architectural modeling?
