Overview  

The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) , based in Louisville Kentucky, serve with mid-councils, congregations, worshipping communities, and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ. Approximately 400 individuals, diverse in race, age, gender, sexual orientation, faith, skills, and more, come together as colleagues to work for a world where justice reigns, peace prevails, and God’s love extends to all people. This community comprises the staff of several national entities: the Office of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Investment and Loan Corporation, the Presbyterian Mission Agency, the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women, and the Administrative Services Group. The person who fills this position can be based in Louisville, KY or work from a remote location.

Position Purpose:

To provide administrative support and staff coordination for the Center for the Repair of Historic Harms. To support, without close supervision, the day-to-day activities of all areas of the Center for Repair’s work, including but not limited to organizing, preparing, and implementing committee actions and/or referrals from the General Assembly, budget monitoring, organization of meetings and gatherings.

Job Description

  2. Establish and grow a warm, hospitable, encouraging, professional and responsive people-first ethos of the Center for Repair.
  3. Provide administrative support to the Director of the Center for Repair and the Center for Repair’s Project Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, administrative functions including keeping detailed and accurate records of actions and agreements, payments, communications, scheduling and travel arrangements.
  4. Establish, maintain, and ensure up-to-date and accurate committee meeting records, correspondence, and files (hard copy and/or electronic). Manage cloud-based access to all documentation and knowledge-base for the Center for Repair along with managing careful archiving of records.
  5. Provide primary support for arrangements for meetings and staff meetings ensuring all participants are well prepared and cared for in order to engage fully in the proceedings. Provide support and follow through on actions at meetings.
  6. Monitor budget reports to ensure accuracy, enter journal vouchers and monitor program expenses. Receive and process staff and committee Travel Expense Reports, Credit Card Statements/Receipts, and other invoices and payments.
  7. Participate in the work and common life of the Center for the Repair of Historic Harms Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education:

Associate degree - Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of administrative and management experience; Experience managing budgets, meeting planning, and record keeping
  • Knowledge of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). A member of an active congregation of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. is helpful in this work and preferred.

Physical Requirements:

This is largely a sedentary position that may require occasional filing and lifting up to 15 pounds. Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, type, write, walk, stand, bend and lift. This is a full-time position. Sensory and physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally in person and by telephone and the ability to read and understand written materials. Ability to communicate in a manner suitable to a church office environment.
